The Brand.
For over a century Canterbury has dedicated itself to making stylish, crafted products that are built to last. From its very beginnings, this was a brand rooted in the New Zealand soil. Like the Kiwi landscape itself, it was rugged and uncompromising.
The Canterbury teamwear range is inspired by the passion for sport and the constant challenge to push sporting boundaries. They bring technology and designs to schools and clubs from their professional union and league teams. Canterbury recognises that for all the glamour of the professional game, rugby belongs to everyone.
Social Strategy.
Canterbury’s social media management strategy comprised of effective visual brand storytelling techniques that were tailored for the local South African market, whilst remaining aligned with the global brand directive. This coupled with an effective paid ad strategy allowed the brand to maintain considerable awareness with its core consumer base.
Canterbury has many prominent sporting sponsorship agreements. A focus on prominent brand associations allowed for a diversity of posts that better represented the various sporting areas Canterbury remains involved in.

Teamwear Design.
The Lions is a South African professional rugby union team based in Johannesburg in the Gauteng province that competes in the world renowned Super Rugby competition.
The Lions have a religious supporter base, numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Capturing the spirit of that base with iconic elements associated with the rugby franchise formed the basis of my design ethos. It was an incredible honour to have had the opportunity to design their on-field playing kit & off-field apparel for the 5 year period I have been involved with the Canterbury brand.
Teamwear Design.
The Sharks is a South African professional rugby union team based in Durban in KwaZulu Natal, who also compete in the world renowned Super Rugby competition.
The Sharks also have an enormous supporter base, not only in South Africa but globally as well. Similarly to the Lions, capturing the spirit of the Sharks supporter base through iconic elements associated formed the basis of my design ethos. It was a privilege to have had the opportunity to design their on-field playing kit & off-field apparel for my time designing for the Canterbury brand.

Marvel Studios Association.
Through Super Rugby’s association with Marvel Studios. It was an incredibly exciting opportunity to have been given the chance to design products utilizing intellectual property of iconic Marvel action hero characters.
It goes without saying that Marvel is one of the most valuable properties in the world through the success of the MCU film division. As a self-proclaimed movie buff who’s seen every one of the Marvel movies over the past decade or so. It truly was a remarkable moment to have been a part of that journey, even if it only was on the product merchandise design side.
